How to survive & thrive staying at home

How are you getting on with your stay-at-home regime? If you've never had to work from home it can take some adjustment. I've just made a checklist of daily reminders for work, rest and play for Spring/Summer 2020.
Do you have a routine, the right mindset and are you trying to remain positively practicaL?
Here are some reminders:
Structure, routine & ritual
Having a structure to the day is vital
Factor in your must-do appointments, time for others and most importantly time for yourself
Design your perfect day and make that your guide
Establish your essential routines and rituals
Use desk stretches, yoga, exercise, mediation, prayer, breathing and quiet time to book-end and break up the day
Don’t do, rules & coping strategies
As a natural rebel, I can't believe I'm writing about rules but hear me out.
Now, more than ever you need to create rules, boundaries and coping strategies so that you can manage your tasks, responsibilities and emotions
This is where a DON’T DO list can come in really handy. For example, if you know that checking the news headlines is going to trigger you and that social media is going to suck you down a rabbit hole - stick them on the DON'T DO list. Buying crisps and chocolate then eating them at 3 pm might go on that list too
Work out your natural energy rhythms and structure your day around them. I do my writing, thinking and researching in the morning so that I can work with clients in the afternoon
Aim to stay as close to ‘business as usual’ as you can – this is important for you and others
Put your work head-on and avoid having Covid-19, 'lockdown' and fear-inducing conversations wherever possible
For this reason, work out a system for speaking to friends and family to manage stress and anxiety
Well-being & self-development
Keep a positively practical approach by focusing on the here and now
Can you use this enforced retreat as a time for reflection?
Is it time to tackle your life laundry, unfinished business and projects?
We've started a Scrabble tournament at home and I've been itching to get into art again, but as well as being playful and creative don't forget about professional development
If there was ever a time to polish up your professional act it's now!
