The Career Clinic is open
This week I opened the doors to The Career Clinic – because sometimes all you need is a quick consultation or a one-off session.
If you feel stuck, demotivated or uninspired with your career or job search, or you’ve been going around in circles with a particular problem, a one-off session may be just what the doctor ordered.
Here are some of my suggestions of how you could use the time:
CV review
Strategy session
Interview preparation
Power /motivational check-in
Work on a thorny issue
Confidential career conversation /career health check
CV Review
I recommend that you update your CV at least once a year.
This allows you to review your achievements and ensure that it reflects the level you’re operating at.
And by keeping it fresh it’s less likely to need major work when the right opportunity comes along.
When you sign up for a CV review you’ll get my first impressions, personalised advice, recommendations and expert opinion.
Does your CV have impact?
"It had been over 10 years since I last needed a 'decent' CV. My draft document drew extremely positive and encouraging feedback from close friends and ex-colleagues but it lacked the challenge and critical eye of objectivity. In a ‘CV review session’, Tracy was able to bring her years of knowledge and experience in recruitment and coaching to the fore. I was pushed to properly consider the document from various perspectives and to tailor not just the content and structure, but also the tone of voice and overall impact. I am now very confident in the resulting document and Tracy made the process enjoyable too!"

Your CV should help you to sell yourself in an interview. This one was missing the storyline thread but I helped to join it up. Hopefully, she’ll use it.
“I didn’t have to actively look for a new role until I was in my early 40s and it was quite a shock! Since then, my career path has been a little bumpy and I decided it was time to get some expert help with my CV. I have known Tracy for many years in a professional capacity and it was so important to me to get her advice. We did a thorough review and I had to do quite a big rewrite. It wasn’t an easy task, but Tracy gave me confidence, kept me on track and gave the best feedback. I felt so much better once I had done the work and am now ready to look for something new!”

Career Strategy Session
If you're stuck in a rut, at a crossroads (again), or your career has plateaued, let’s get together to map out your options and your next steps plans.
I want you to be the driver of your career – book in for a strategy session.
”With extensive retail experience under my belt, I was looking for that elusive ‘meaningful’ new role. I also needed a clear process of how to market myself but ultimately, I needed to re-energise myself and regain my confidence.
Tracy’s direct, open, honest and challenging approach linked with her vast and current experience in the recruitment world meant that I was quickly challenged. She helped me to define my skills and encouraged me to be very honest about what I really wanted to achieve.
I felt totally at ease with Tracy (who does have empathy!) She helped me to gain clarity and confidence by identifying the differentiation in my skill set and experience, then how to communicate it effectively.
My experience with Tracy had an immediate effect on the way that I networked and within two weeks I had received two job offers of roles that I actually wanted to do.”Business Development Director, Homewares
Interview Preparation Session
You need to be well-prepared and in the right headspace for those important meetings.
When you're at the final stages for a senior role there is more at stake.
You want to give it your best shot but also weigh up the pros and cons. It's not just about selling yourself, you’ve got to know if it’s right for you.
When you feel confident and prepared you’ll have a clearer perspective.
Important meetings shouldn’t be left to chance and here’s why:
You've worked hard to get to the final stages and you want to give it your best shot
You want to feel confident and well-prepared, not over-rehearsed and desperate
You’re on a shortlist alongside other great candidates
Your interview skills are rusty and you want to sharpen them up
You have concerns that you’d rather not share with the recruiter
You want an objective/outsider perspective
This client worked with me to prepare for the final stage meeting with the hiring manager and an independent assessment with a senior partner at a leading blue-chip search firm.
“I came in touch with Tracy a few months ago after a strong recommendation from a friend. I had been approached by a company for a senior management position and I understood at that time the stringent and rigorous recruitment process that this company employed to hire employees. I was looking for a professional who could guide me and I must say that Tracy's advice has been of tremendous help. She is extremely competent, thorough, a true professional and I must say that her advice was spot on, which eventually helped me to secure the position.”
